宮崎ハロー英会話のミニレッスン6: When’s the Gillesound concert?

Can you find the mistake?

Risa: So Ami, are you ready for the concert?

Ami: Yip, when is it again?

Risa: It’ll be held on next  Sunday.

Ami: Oh no, I have to take the EIKEN interview test then! What time does it start?

Risa: I think it starts at 6 pm.

Ami: Ah, ok. No problem. The test should be finished by then.

Did you find the mistake?

Risa makes an error when she says “on next Sunday”.

She should say “on Sunday” or “next Sunday”, but not “on next Sunday”. In English we use “on, in, at” (for example: on Monday, in summer, at the weekend) when we talk about time and we also use “every, last, next, this” (for example: every Sunday, last week, next Monday, this weekend). But do not mix the “on, in at” with “every, last, this , next”.

Good luck with your studies!

間違いを見つけましたか?
まず、Risaが “on next Sunday” と言った所にエラーがあります。Risaは “on Sunday” か“next Sunday”と言うべきでした。
英語では“on, in, at” は時間について話す時に(例: on Monday, in summer, at the weekend)のように使います。
又“every, last, next, this” は(for example: every Sunday, last week, next Monday, this weekend)のように使います。
“on, in at” を “every, last, this , next”とミックスしないようにしてください。
では学習がんばってください!
