宮崎ハロー英会話のミニレッスン 27: Really leery, rarely Larry
Can you say this tongue twister?
- Really leery, rarely Larry.
- Red lorry, yellow lorry.
- A lump of red leather, a red leather lump.
This week I taught ‘r’ and ‘l’ pronunciation for a University class in Miyazaki. R & L is difficult for most Japanese speakers because there is no ‘L’ in Japanese and the Japanese ‘R’ is different to the English ‘R’. Actually, how Japanese say ‘R’ is similar to how we say ‘L’ in English, so it is difficult. The important thing to remember is the tongue DOES NOT touch the top of your mouth when you make an ‘R’ sound, but it DOES when you say a ‘L’ sound.
