宮崎ハロー英会話のミニレッスン 63: Tomorrow’s going to be a scorcher!

Ami: Hey Risa, what are you up to tomorrow?

Risa: Hi Ami, I’m going to play soccer all day. Do you want to come along too?

Ami: No thanks! Tomorrow is going to be a scorcher!! I don’t want to get heat stroke.

Risa; Huh? I understand ‘heat stroke’ means 熱中症, but what does “scorcher” mean?

Ami: It means a really hot day. “Tomorrow is going to be a scorcher’ means tomorrow is going to be a really hot day.

Risa: Ahhh, ok I see. Thanks. You’re right. It’s supposed to be 36 degrees tomorrow, I’ll make sure I drink lots of water. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
